Error Codes: Proxima, Centauri | Centauri S, Sirius (2021-2023)Updated 22 days ago

If your First Generation MPF-equipped Vvolt ebike displays any of the following codes on the Xplova EH-02 display, please consult the following chart. Should you not be able to resolve the issue on your own, please email us at [email protected] for guidance!

Here is a rundown of the most common error codes we've seen:

E001

The most common error code we've seen is E001 -- the HMI communication fault -- it looks like this on your display:

The code can be a result of a many faults -- bent pins, pinched wires, or a fried printed circuit board due to improper battery handling (battery handling update) The quickest resolution for this code is often a motor swap. We have plenty of warranty motors manufactured with a higher quality printed circuit board to better handle voltage fluctuations. Reach out to [email protected] to get the process started.

E049

This is a speed sensor error which is typically the result of the spoke-mounted magnet not being properly aligned with the belt-stay mounted speed sensor. For your edification, I've included a full set of error codes associated with the MPF6C motor, a solutions sheet from our motor manufacturer for E049, and two photos to show proper magnet orientation. The middle of the magnet must pass over one of the two marks on the speed sensor.

The first troubleshooting step is to ensure the magnet is close enough to the sensor and correctly oriented. In exceedingly rare circumstances, we've had to replace the speed sensor itself as they can fail. Start with adjusting your magnet and then move on from there if that doesn't solve the issue. If the magnet already seems correctly placed over one of the sensor marks, please move it to the other mark!

Swapping a speed sensor is relatively straight forward -- instructions are here -- so reach out to us if the steps above don't help you out.

Here's the full list of codes:

CodeFaultDescriptionResolution
"err"Sensor - issue with motor sensor; magnet placement or other
Wait for err to clear, reboot the HMI if not clearing, check if symptions are as in E058 cadence error
"err" or E058Control - Cadence over 110rpm; temporary power cutA fail safe for the motor spinning too quickly. This may occur while pedaling at too high cadence in upper pedal assist levels. Twist your Enviolo shifter towards you to lower your pedal cadence.
E 001Display - communication errorThe handlebar unit is not communicating properly with the motor controller. Possible reasons:
A. When the battery is inserted, the positive electrode + CAN BUS contacts earlier than the negative electrode.
B. When the battery goes to sleep, the positive pole does not disconnect, only the negative electrode disconnect.
C. Using the incorrect battery
D. Bent or damaged pins in plugs
F. Internal voltage spike
E. Pinched wires
1. Contact Vvolt
2. Check for damage between HMI and motor, replace HMI if necessary
3. Check pins on the connector for damage
4. Replace motor
ER11Battery - cell over voltageA cell voltage irregularity is detected: over voltageReboot the battery: long press the power button until LED lights cycle twice. Wait 5 seconds, long press again to turn on the battery.
ER12Battery - cell under voltageA cell voltage irregularity is detected: under voltageReboot the battery: long press the power button until LED lights cycle twice. Wait 5 seconds, long press again to turn on the battery.
ER14Battery - short circuit
Contact Vvolt
ER15Battery - over discharging circuit
Contact Vvolt
ER16Battery - over charging circuit
Contact Vvolt
ER17Battery - cell over temperature (charging)
Unplug battery and charger and move to a cooler area. Wait 30 min before attempting to charge again
ER18Battery - cell over temperature (discharging)
Reboot the battery, wait 10 minutes before rebooting HMI
ER19Battery - FET over temperature (charging)
Unplug battery and charger and move to a cooler area. Wait 30 min before attempting to charge again
ER21Battery - cell under temperature (charging)
Unplug battery and charger and move to a warmer area. Wait 30 min before attempting to charge again
ER22Battery - cell under temperature (discharging)
Reboot the battery: long press the power button until LED lights cycle twice. Wait 5 seconds, long press again to turn on the battery.
ER24Battery - temperature not balanced
Reboot the battery: long press the power button until LED lights cycle twice. Wait 5 seconds, long press again to turn on the battery.
ER25Battery - cell not balanced
Reboot the battery: long press the power button until LED lights cycle twice. Wait 5 seconds, long press again to turn on the battery.
ER27Battery - FET damaged
Contact Vvolt for replacement
ER28Battery - fuse blown
Contact Vvolt for replacement
ER29Battery - others
Contact Vvolt
ER37Control - others
Contact Vvolt
ER38Control - CPU errorFirmware Program running abnormallyReboot HMI
ER41Control - PAS/throttle abnormalFirmware Program running abnormallyReboot HMI
ER42Control - motor - phase loss
Contact Vvolt
ER43Control - motor hall sensor abnormal
Contact Vvolt, motor may need replacement
ER44Control - brake abnormal
Brake sensor
ER45Control - over temperature
Turn off HMI, wait 10 minutes to reboot and lower PAS level
ER46Control - motor - blocked rotor
Contact Vvolt
ER47Control - voltage abnormal
Contact Vvolt
ER48Control - Under voltage protectionMotor has detected too low voltage. Potentially occurs when battery is low and assist level is high and working hard. Ensure battery is charged then try steps to the right1. Check the battery voltage and fully charge the battery.
2. Use MPF app to check votage value detected inside motor
3. Check whether the wire between HMI and motor is damaged
4. Update motor firmware
5. Replace motor
ER49Control - speed sensor abnormalThe magnet fixed to a spoke on the rear wheel is not properly oriented with the speed sensor attached at the drive side chainstay.Rotate the back wheel to align the magnet with the speed sensor. Ensure the speed sensor is close w/in 5mm to the magnet. The red line on the middle of the magnet should pass on either the fore or aft indentation on the speed sensor, not directly in the middle.
ER50Control - over voltage protectionOver voltage protection is a power supply feature which shuts down the supply when the voltage exceeds a preset level. This can occur when a fully charged battery is being rapidly discharged. Reboot the system and lower PAS level. 1. Check the battery voltage
2. Use MPF app to check votage value detected inside motor
3. Check whether the wire between HMI and motor is damaged
4. Update motor firmware
5. Replace motor
