Can I modify my Vvolt?Updated a month ago

Short Answer

Sure! We proudly use widely available sizes and standards for our acoustic (non-electric) components. Our ebikes use 31.8mm handlebars and stems, basic saddles, 30.9mm seat posts, and 27.5" wheels. Do you know how to tinker and are the DIY-type? Go to town! Are you new to bikes (and ebikes) and want to learn more? You can contact us or head down to your local bike co-op and make a new friend!

*Disclaimer* Modifying electrical components will void your warranty.

The Slice Lite is somewhat unique, but you can modify it, too!

Kinda Longer Answer

We find most people are interested in swapping out the following components:

  • handlebars
  • stems
  • grips
  • brakes
  • tires
  • saddles

Handlebars/Stems/Grips

One of the quickest ways to change the flavor of your ride is to alter your handlebars for a different shape or your stem for a more upright or racier ride. Other grips are a fun way to personalize your ride, too! We love our comfy ergo grips, but perhaps you want a different color! Go for it.

Check out whatbars.com to compare handlebar shapes, but know that our ebikes are designed for flat handlebars, not drop bars!

Brakes

Perhaps you want increased stopping power! The disc brakes on most Vvolt ebikes use two-piston calipers. Four-piston calipers don't necessarily double your stopping power, but they can be a big step up in performance, especially paired with a slightly larger rotor size. Larger rotors require adapters, and we don't suggest putting anything larger than 203mm on our ebikes. Stuck? Head to your LBS (local bike shop) and start pickin' their brains!
