Can I attach a trailer to my Vvolt?Updated 16 days ago
Centauri SE with a Burley trailer
Attaching a trailer is a great way to increase the utility of your Vvolt ebike! We recommend trailers from reputable brands, such as Burley.
Mounting the Trailer
The most secure place to mount a trailer is to the rear axle of your Vvolt. Burley makes a steel hitch, which mounts on the non-drive (left) side of the rear axle.
To not strip the threads on the axle, we recommend the following trailer hitch adapters from Robert Axle Project:
- Alpha, Alpha S, Alpha 2: M12x1.25 adapter
- Proxima, Centauri, Centauri S, Sirius, Centauri SE: M10x1 adapter
- Centauri 2: 3/8th x 26 tpi adapter
- Slice Lite: The thread pitch on the Slice Lite's rear axle is M12x1.00. As such, there is no apapter available. However, you can likely get away with simply installing the steel hitch without the adapter, just be extra careful not to strip the axle threads when torquing the nuts.
To install the adapter:
- Remove the left side axle nut
- Install the Robert Axle Project Adapter using a 17mm wrench
- Slide the Burley Steel Hitch over the threaded portion of the Robert Axle Project Adapter
- Secure the hitch to the adapter, ensuring it's nice and tight!
- Have fun!
When hauling precious cargo, you can expect diminished battery range but increased smiles!
